We started in the early evening at Hyde Park. This is naturally a popular park, but it is worth persevering with the crowds because the area does offer beautiful versatility – especially in early Spring. The advantage of starting with Hyde park is that we were able to shoot some more natural shots to contrast with some of the later shooting, which needs to be more stylised. The 3rd shot in the gallery – using off-camera flash for a more fashion-like feel – was one of my favourites photographs of the London shoot.

We then moved on to Trafalgar Square (where it is impossible to avoid people in the background of the photographs!) and then Harrods. Yoke then changed into her second outfit – a stunning white dress.

The next destination for the photography was St Pauls Cathedral – where the light was beginning to get more dusky, and then Leadenhall Market (Sunday is a good day to catch the market empty; and we like the high ceiling, arches and tungsten lighting). Finally, after a another outfit change (a lovely gold dress), we finished at Albert Embankment to photograph the Houses of Parliament in the background.

We are often commissioned by couples from Singapore to do London photography shoots. Some couples are in London celebrating anniversaries, but many are looking to enjoy an extension to their wedding photography (either as a pre-shoot or during the honeymoon).

Great Fosters is an historic, grade one listed building set in beautiful parkland and gardens near Egham in Surrey (it says on the venue’s website that it was originally built as a royal hunting lodge in 1550 AD). The venue describes itself as a romantic, luxury hotel – and it is hard to disagree with that description. Certainly, as Great Fosters wedding photographers, we never get tired of the venue, simply because there are so many varied photographic opportunities, both inside and out.

This time, one of our favourite photographs is on the staircase. It requires a good, wide angle lens in a tight position; and the contrast from the window through to the dark panelled wood is very strong. But the final outcome offers an artistic and romantic feel to the image. We also really like the emphasis the image gives to the bride’s dress.

In addition to the pretty rose garden and bridge, the fountain also offers a natural draw to wedding photographers. Image 9 in the gallery uses off-camera flash to pull out a little drama; and also allows the image to capture the detail in the bright sky and water alongside the darker foreground.

This time, it was our pleasure to be photographing Anna and Michael’s wedding at Hartsfield. We had already enjoyed a pre-wedding shoot at Richmond Park, so the couple were very relaxed and confident about being photographed (particularly Michael, who had a short spell as a professional model in his late teens). After a little spell of changing faces, Hartsfield Manor now has a new wedding coordinator; and the day itself was very well organised – and ran very smoothly. Anna and Michael had a fantastic time; and were pleased with how accommodating the venue was on the day.

The weather was ideal in many ways – light clouds reducing the contrast on a pleasant, warm sunny day. This meant that the light was more controllable for the photographs in the grounds at the back of the manor house. Although Hartsfield’s rose garden was not yet in bloom, the strong yellow of a rape seed field offered some interesting bright contrast in the background for some of the couple shots. The 5th shot in the gallery above was captured using off-camera flash, serving to really emphasise the colours. The willow trees are also excellent for walking shots – offering interesting textures and a darker background which allowed me to shoot into the sun.
